End of Summer Fling Giveaway

Whether we want to admit it or not, here in Canada, summer is almost at an end. In days, really, homes with kids will be quieter and school yards will be noisier. I HATE back to school! I'm one of those moms who is happier when the kids are home and we can make up our days as we go along. Structure is not my favorite thing. This year, for the first time in a few years, all four of my kids will be heading back to school and I will be alone all day. So I thought I would giveaway a gift basket of things for other moms like me - OK you don't have to be a mom. But you do have to be Canadian - sorry to all my American and overseas friends but this one is going to be a little expensive to mail.

The giveaway basket will include:
  • a sample box of 18 assorted Bigelow herbal teas
  • a 355 g package of fuzzy peach candy
  • a small aromatherapy anti stress candle
  • a small container of shower gel/bubble bath
  • and, of course, a book
I have three books for you  to choose from: (click on the covers to go to amazon and read reviews, etc)
    RunThe Angel
  1. For romance lovers - "The Angel" by Carla Neggers:
  2. "Run" by Ann Patchettt
  3. "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova
HISTORIAN / A NOVEL
RULES:
International giveaway.
Because this is such a large giveaway, I am offering it to followers only. Old or new.
Leave a comment with your e-mail address, which book you would like and the answer to the following question: What is your favorite part of fall/back to school?
The winner will be chosen by random.com on the 31st of August. Good Luck!!

  5. Thank you for making this great giveaway open to everyone! My favorite thing about fall is the weather. It's just cool enough to wear a long sleeved shirt, but not so cold you are freezing. It's also when people start using their wood stoves and that is my favorite smell. But my favorite thing about back to school is my free time during the day while the kids are gone to do whatever I want lol. Please enter me to win Run by Ann Patchett, I'd love to read it. Thanks!

Honestly there is nothing good about fall :( It just means it gets dark and then winter comes where it at worst is only light outside for a few hours per day

  7. Fun giveaway Dana!! Hmm...favorite thing about fall or back to school is hard. As a kid I always loved getting new school clothes and school supplies, but as a parent (with my first year sending a child to preschool) it just makes me sad to be tied down to a schedule and not having my cutie home with me all the time. But it's good, right?? I have not read any of those books so I will say Run by Ann Patchett, but really I'd be happy with any of them ;)

  8. The Historian before I forget which book. I really don't have a favorite part of fall (since my children are grown) except that it's the time of the year when we travel. Donna

  9. Thanks for making this international Dana! I would really really love to get Carla Neggers' Angel! Ireland is a dream of mine... :)

And what do I like about fall/back to school... well, honestly speaking I'm not a mother - yet... But I love going stationary shopping during the back to school sales - I even drool over the kiddy backpacks! :P

    Thanks for doing this!

  10. YAY! Well, I was home-schooled so this time of year was always different for me. But there was always something about that first day back that seemed like fall was coming. Even though it was still summer, even though the trees were still green and the weather was still hot, you just knew that fall was just around the corner, and fall is my FAVORITE time of year.

If I win, I'd like Run by Ann Patchett

  11. Hi Dana, thanks for such a great giveaway and for making it International. My favourite part of autumn is definitely the colours on the trees changing, and seeing all the gorgeous shades of red, orange and brown. The book I would choose is The Angel by Carla Neggers.
    Best wishes

Um... there's no autumn in my country. But I wish we did have four seasons.

What do I like best about going back to school? Meeting up with my friends and favourite lecturers. We have so much fun in class.

  18. Thanks for a really great giveaway!! I'm going to be homeschooling my son for pre-K this year, so having kid go to school so I can have the day to myself is out of the question as an answer! My favorite part of fall is when the air gets crisp and just cool enough without being cold, and the leaves start changing color on the trees. I love that time!
I would love to read the book, The Historian, because I've heard good things about it.

  35. I'd love to read The Historian :) My favourite part about Autumn (I live in Australia so we don't say fall) is the agreeable weather, it's not too hot or too cold, and you can get away with wearing a pretty wide range of clothes. Plus, as it does get cooler it's perfect weather for staying inside reading!

I'd love to read The Historian. It's one of many on my to-read list. The best part about fal for me is the weather/fashion because I LOVE sweatshirts and the comfort of curling up in a sweatshirt with a good book.

  41. I just love the colours in Autumn (Fall) the reds and gold, the yellows and orange. Its my favourite time of the year. I take the children horse chesnut hunting (we call them Conkers over here in the UK) and when we get home we get what we feel are the best out and thread a lace or piece of string through them and have "Conker Fights", its great fun. You just try to hit and break the other conker. We spend hours having fun in the leaves or hunting for our favourite. Whose says kids can't have fun without a computer to hand!
The book I'd love to read is "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova, I have read a couple of reviews on this and its on my "must read" list.
    Many thanks. X
