Poetry Moment

Today I was trying to decide what poem to spotlight and, at the same time, laughing at my dog. I love my dog! So I decided to find a nice, ode-like poem about dogs. In my search I ran across this poem and couldn't resist. I know it's not a nice, ode-like poem but it made me laugh. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Oh, and here's a picture of my baby - not the dog in the poem:

A Dog After Love by Yehuda Amichai
After you left me
I let a dog smell at
My chest and my belly. It will fill its nose
And set out to find you.

I hope it will tear the
Testicles of your lover and bite off his penis
Or at least
Will bring me your stockings between his teeth.

  1. LOL! precious. I know a few people I could happily unleash such a dog on.
I love Thomas Hardy's ode-like poem about a dog. I think its called 'Last words to a Dumb Friend'. Very moving.
