TBR Tuesday

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy TBR Tuesday!! Since my honey is out of town, I'll be spending tonight with a good book - perfect second choice. It won't, however, be this book ... yet.

How do you know when your TBR list has gotten out of hand? When you read it over and can't remember some of the books you added. That's where I started today. This is one that my brain totally misplaced. I couldn't remember adding it, what it was about, where I heard of it, anything. After a quick trip around the internet I have the answers to all my questions and can't wait to delve into Because it is Bitter and Because it is My Heart by Joyce Carol Oates.

Here's what Amazon has to say:
Joyce Carol Oates adds to her extraordinary body of work with this stunning novel of violence and love. At the heart of the story are two people, Iris Courtney, who is white, and handsome Jinx Fairchild, the black basketball player who, in protecting Iris, kills a white man.
Iris is the only witness to the crime.
The two of them are growing up in the early 1950s in a New York industrial town where racial boundaries keep people apart—or bring them together in explosive scenes of fear or desire. The secret link between Iris and Jinx is not only their attraction to each other, but a murder … and a bond of passion and guilt is formed between them. How this one irrevocable, tragic act shapes their lives and alters their destinies becomes Joyce Carol Oates’ finest, emotion-packed novel—a work the critics are calling a masterpiece, the best work of America’s best writer of contemporary realism.
Has anyone out there had the pleasure (or not) of this book? Or the author? I'd love to hear what you have to say. Or, if you've reviewed it, leave a link in the comments so I can come have a look.

  3. LOL! I do that all the time. 600+ books on my TBR list and I guess it's bound to happen but still. I hope you get to this one soon and let us all know how good it is.
