Discover the secrets of a siren, fly with a hawk girl over the mountains of Montana, and flee supernatural party-crashers as the decore comes to life in this magical journey through paranormal stories.Of all the collections of short stories I've read lately, this one takes the prize as the most fun. Written for the YA crowd, it is totally appropriate for anyone over the age of 12. Testament to the skill and talent of all of the authors, each of the stories is a feast for the imagination; well written and engaging. There are plenty of romantic moments and eerie happenings throughout the book. I was especially impressed with the completeness of each of the stories. I read the entire book in one sitting (there are only 178 pages) and loved every moment of it.
Another plus is the section at the back of the book that includes a bio for each of the authors and a short teaser for Rita J Webb's Tears.

A Taste from Shadows of Promise by Heather McCubbin pg 82:
Putting the bottle back into her purse, she felt her hair shift about, tickling her nose. Looking around for the source of the breeze, she tightened her hand around the strap of her purse. She noticed a broken light bulb in an antique brass light fixture and a window whose curtains hung limply at an awkward angle. Nothing out of the ordinary for an abandoned home. Tucking dark curls behind her ears, Dawn stepped aside as the knob turned, and Lauren stumbled into the hallway, gasping for fresh air.
I'm not into short stories but that's one heck of a lovely cover, isn't it?
