The Jury is back and the Verdict is in. Giveaway

After a week of voting, my favorite cover lost. (The Secret Daughter). By an overwhelming majority, 'The Map of Time' has won the best cover contest.

There is another cover for this book which is also great:
Now I want to know, does the story line hold the promise the cover does? Here's the synopsis from Shelfari:
Set in Victorian London with characters real and imagined, "The Map of Time" is a page-turner that boasts a triple play of intertwined plots in which a skeptical H.G. Wells is called upon to investigate purported incidents of time travel and to save lives and literary classics, including "Dracula" and "The Time Machine", from being wiped from existence.
What happens if we change history? FĂ©lix J. Palma explores this question in "The Map of Time", weaving a historical fantasy as imaginative as it is exciting-a story full of love and adventure that transports readers to a haunting Victorian London for their own taste of time travel.
Does it sound like something you'd be interested in? Well, here's your chance. The giveaway is international and will be open until July 28 ('cause that's when I leave on holidays for 2 weeks).

Entry Rules.
To enter leave a comment with your e-amil address and the answer to this question: If you could travel through time, where would you go and why? I'm going to be a little (w)itchy about it this time - if you don't answer the question, your entry won't be counted!

  1. Arghhh, I should not, but I am anyway.

  3. I think I'd go to the future. Why? Let's just say I love the science fiction genre and seeing how I won't get the chance to travel on a spaceship and discover new and far away worlds, this is the only direction for me to go. Let's put a time stamp on in and say "the year 3024" because by then space travel should be as common as travel by airplane today. Then of course, the human race might already be extinct and I'd end up in my very own version of Planet of the Apes, hmmm! Anyway, I'll stick to the future scenario :-) !

P.S.: Unsure whether this is international but keeping my fingers crossed!

  4. I'll definitely would love to visit the victorian era London, simply because i'm a classic freak and would love to experience the time through my own eyes instead of just reading about it and also there are the clothes - I simply love the gowns of that era.

  6. I would love to go back to either the time that Christ was on the earth in Jerusalem or back to around the 1850s when the pioneers traveled West. I'd like to live at Christ's time to know if I would have followed him then or not. I'd love to live when the pioneers did to see how they dealt with the daily trials of moving West by foot and handcart! books(at)bookwormfamily(dot)com

  11. First of all - I absolutely love the cover of The Map of Time - beautiful!
    Time travel? Yes, please!
I would first go to medieval Europe. These were so hard and barbarian times - no flush toilets, no bubble baths, no dental hygiene and an average life span of 20-something, but all that aside, I'd love to see how it all really looked like. Witch hunts, knights, battles, pagan gods.. sounds fascinating to me! :)
I would also love to visit ancient Greece and see all the gorgeous architecture, talk to some philosophers.. There's plenty I'd like to explore!

Where would you go?! I'm curious about your answer :)

  20. This is a very interesting question. What time would I want to go back to? Its tough. I would have to say Medieval Times. I just love the idea of riding horseback everywhere. Jousting and battles. Kings and Queens. It just sounds so magical. It would be tough living in that time but you know if would also be fun with all the chivalry and contests and battles. =]

  22. Don't even need to think about that, the Victorian era in a big fancy city like London or Paris, because it sound so classy and I feel like I would belong there more than with all this technology - especially since I seem to break all my technology! It just seems like a more simpler time, with beautiful dresses and balls and someone to go with you wherever you went because a girl can't go out alone. I don't know, just when I read old styled books I feel like I'd love it so much there! I defiantly wouldn't go forward.

    Great question!

  23. The cover on this book is awesome! I've been eyeing it up for a few months now and I really want to read it. It sounds right up my street.

Hmm, if I could go back in time, I would go back just a few years and redo the last few weeks I had in pregnancy when my little boy was still in my tummy and all mine and I didn't have to share him with anyone else. I know that's a sad answer and doesn't bring colourful or elegant images to mind like the Victorian era (but my god it was too smelly in those days!) but if I ever got the chance, that is what I would do :-)

As to when: 1. Charles II rule - the theatres, the decandence! 2. Elizabeth I Golden Age 3. Napoleon's wars. 4. Early Middle Ages 9-10th century (Vikings in Normandy, separation of the church, christianity brought to Russia)... Sorry, I'd better stop, I'm a history buff :)

So hard to pick one time and place, so many are fascinating; Elizabethan England and Victorian England both have their charms but I think I would choose something a bit closer to home like the 1920s, or possibly London during the Blitz, I have always wondered what it would really be like to have lived through that and at least these were times when women had some degree of security.
