Words for the Weekend

Recently I have rediscovered a book called "The Poem I Turn To: Actors & Directors Present Poetry that Inspires Them". It is interesting to see what types of poetry each of the different personalities like. For this week I have chosen a poem that Mary-Louise Parker (from the TV show Weeds) included.

Keeping Things Whole
by Mark Strand

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
where my body has been.

We all have reasons
for moving.
I move
to keep things whole.

Just a little something to keep your mind moving this weekend. Have a great one!!

  2. That book must be quite interesting. I liked the poem this week too. I'm so weird about poetry, either I love it or I just don't get it but I liked this one.
